Modesto Junior College knows that these are challenging times filled with change and uncertainty.  Every decision that our college makes includes many discussions and considerations prior to a final decision being made.

Our graduation ceremony has been one of the hardest topics we have had to discuss.  We know how hard students work to get to that special moment and how important it is to celebrate such a special milestone.

During the Spring semester many students expressed to the college their desire to have a physical graduation ceremony. Despite the fact that it may sometime until we are allowed to again gather in large groups.  Informally students expressed on social media the desire to forgo any type of virtual ceremony for an in person traditional ceremony.  Formally, students expressed the same desires during student town halls.  In April, the Associated Students voted on a resolution asking the school to hold an in person graduation regardless of how long students may need to wait with an understanding that the wait could be months or even a year.

The college chose to honor the students request and MJC currently is eagerly waiting for the day the state and county clear us to host a graduation.  MJC is fully committed to celebrating the Class of 2020 as soon as possible.

We thank everyone for their understanding, we are all in this together and we are MJC STRONG!!!
